Olive oil, the storyteller of history and territory
Five territories, five estates, five Sicilian oils
Wine on its own is not enough to truly share the essence of Sicily and the unqiueness of each Tasca estate. Since Greek times in Sicily, oil has been, together with wine, a fascinating storyteller of history and territory.
In historic times, farmers first planted olive trees as a symbol of nourishment, and then planted vines. Tasca began studying the typical varieties in Sicily in hopes to share the story of olive oil far and wide.
The mission to narrate the “Sicilian continent” continues. The 2022 harvest represents the beginning of a project to highlight the diverse territories through extra virgin olive oil. After the oils from Regaleali and Mozia came the oil from the slopes of Etna, produced at Tascante. Then came Sallier de La Tour with the typical characteristics of the soil of the Jato Valley, and lastly the oil of Tenuta Capofaro, on Salina, an island with a “tropical” climate but volcanic soils.
All are oils are the expression of a unique territory, taken care of by Tasca d’Almerita men and women.
